This project was an optimization of postal operations that was required to meet the facilities increased demand. Large scale changes to the facility required the upgrading or replacement of many of the facilities mechanical systems. This work also included upgrades to the electrical systems, creation of a new mechanical room, the installations of six equipment platforms, demolition of abandoned systems & non bearing partitions, and reframing of abandoned floor penetrations. The 24 hour facility required careful phasing and coordination with the USPS.

This project involved design and construction administration for the replacement of aging electrical infrastructure while maintaining full building operation.  Work included the design of a new Medium Voltage (13.8kv) switchgear lineup and new 13.8kv distribution throughout the facility.  It also included replacing six active substations, two of which were located on the roof with environmental enclosures.

This three story system of eight escalators had been shut down for many years.  MMT was tasked with designing the complete removal and replacement of this system.
